He's a very naughty boy. Right at the turn of the 80s, here he comes again with that same Sega Megadrive eight bit shuffle. Forty years on, it still stands up I think, and there's no doubt that it must have been shocking at the time. It has a clubby, San Junipero feel, and at 30 minutes long it feels like the perfect length, just enough to leave you wanting more.

It's starting to morph from the disco of the seventies into a more keyboard/synth driven sound. Watching Duran Duran last night you realise how wild some of this stuff must have seemed. Don't know if it's a boy or a girl. And yet it's a real thing, authentic, not manufactured or synthetic. This must have been around the time that Husker Du were starting to play in the same area. I wonder if their paths ever crossed...?

Prince and his band had just come off tour with Rick James when they recorded this, and that must have had an influence. There is a distinct super freak vibe to some of this.
