So this is it, probably the last one of these. And a cryptic question mark with which to close. The cover and the title suggest this is going to be some kind of popathon schmaltzfest, the Robert Smith in Orange routine of taking off the wig to reveal the truth. On first listen, it really doesn't feel like that is what's happening. It feels oblique, difficult, a conundrum. Gone is the twee lower case font, in is capitals and CAPITALS.

Sometimes maybe it's easier to parse these things by seeing how it shaped up live. I Didn't Change My Number is therefore the frontrunner, and you can see why - it's definitely cut from similar cloth to the first couple of releases. And then it's straight into track 3, the self-referential Billie Bossa Nova. That's a very clever title, the more I think about it. Then we have NDA which starts with that trademark Morning Glory wail before breaking down into a tale of misspent youth that tiptoes around as it spells out the truth. I don't like the vocoder thing, but I guess it's effective. That tips us into the next album track, Therefore I Am. Again, this harks back to previous tracks like Crown, but has a more grown-up edge.

It feels like all of this is just building up to the title track, which kicks off with that trademark Somewhere Over the Rainbow lullaby before clattering into technicolour with a sense of venom I haven't heard from Billie yet. It is dramatic, to say the least. I don't talk shit about you on the internet. That's a weirdly dated line. Just fucking leave me alone. She's not messing around.

As the burnt-out fuzz fades away, all that remains is... silence.
