So this is a bona fide hit - Love Story. I feel like she revisited this recently, or at least it was getting played a lot on the radio. And while Liz Rose's name is still there on half the songs, the other half are Swift solo compositions. This is someone growing in to their own skin and who is - as the title suggests - not afraid of doing her own thing.

Sonically I'm not sure what I would compare it to. It just sounds like Taylor Swift I suppose, which is a pretty amazing thing for any artist to be able to say. I remember when we were in Mexico in 2004 we became completely obsessed with the Kelly Clarkson song Since You've Been gone. It just sounded really fresh, like a complete sucker punch, the kind of song you could imagine The Killers playing when they were headlining Glastonbury. I appreciate Kelly was a much more manufactured proposition in terms of songwriting etc, but it's still a great song.

White Horse is more trad country I suppose in a very Nashville sense. This is a Liz Rose number. Hmmm, White Horse, Learning to Ride... I'm reaching here. You know, this album came out the same year as Cailtin's debut EP thing. Couldn't Liz have giver her a bit of a hand? Maybe she did. Or maybe CR wanted to do it under her own steam, and fair play to her for that. And come to that - it's been eight years since the last Caitlin album. What is she doing? Actually, I hope she's okay. You look at Evan Dando's Twitter, and it's not great reading.

Anyway. Five singles. That's too many. As a footnote, I think this was the first time Taylor played in the UK? Two sold out nights at Shepherds Bush in 2009. Support from Justin Bieber.
