Once you hear the classic BMW sound I suppose it's obvious why this is the jumping off point for so many people. From the start of Concrete Jungle it's like we've crossed the river and have entered the Island. This was where the UK and Jamaica collided, Chris Blackwell riding to the rescue of the stranded Wailers.
It's also the point at which it clearly becomes Bob Marley's band, I think. There's a complexity to the sound, the layers, the backing vocals, the percussion, that separate it from the earlier four track Lee Scratch Perry recordings.
