A little souvenir of an interesting year. Two Billie's clash. A Christmas Gift For You. On first listen this sounds kind of like an identikit mish mash of troubled teen talk, but third or fourth run through something very different emerges. This isn't just bedroom melodrama, it's stadium, epic, magic. There are obvious echoes to Taylor, as you might expect, but Billie is here to plow her own furrow.

Even a self-consciously twee song like Party Favor, surely being covered by a million teenagers even as we speak, has depths which only reveal themselves once lyrics have been memorised, posters have been blu-tacked to walls, names have been scrawled on school jotters. There are echoes of so many other artists, underground heroes like Mitski or Snail Mail, angry kids like Speedy Ortiz meets laconic charmers like Lana Del Ray, but whichever way you slice it, it's just very, very good.

So far in this whole exercise I think I have only ended up buying a handful of albums based on listening - Taylor and Prince spring to mind. But this I would 100% buy, play, love. Where's my mind. Where is my mind. Kurt, crippled by stomach pains.
