Ten years have passed, and what has changed? Everything and nothing. Annie is a massive solo star. Dave has done his thing with Vegas and the Spiritual Cowboys. But the world wanted the two of them. And what do we want? World Peace. When do we want it? 1990. So why not. And it does sound different, of course it does. But that's never a bad thing. And if we had the chance to be 17 again, wouldn't we all take it, at some level? Even if just for a day, an hour. I haven't changed, how could I? I'm pretty much the same person.

Of course they're a band that are fond of call-backs, ad references to Sweet Dreams come early on in the first track. It's a nice touch. But it also feels, almost from the opening track, like the last album they'll ever record. Too early to say though, I guess.

If every band came back to do an album like this, calling for peace among world nations, I don't think that would necessarily be a bad thing. And it has an inspiring element, no doubt - I Saved the World Today. War is over, if you want it. All we are saying.

"The ultimate hidden truth of the world is that it is something that we make - and could just as easily make differently." - David Graeber.

I'm not sure I would buy any Eurythmics album beyond the debut, or perhaps a greatest hits. But there is something quietly pleasing about them, and I'm glad I had them around, burrowing away in the background. Peace out.
